Joshua Schools

Free education for every child

Let the little children come to me… for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.
Matthew 19:14

Three active schools, two more opening, 500+ children — and not one of them pays a rupee. Tuition, books, stationery, uniform and a meal, all free.

A child in Pakistan does not usually drop out because they cannot learn. They drop out because the uniform costs money, the books cost money, and a hungry child cannot concentrate anyway. Joshua School System removes every one of those costs, not some of them.

Enrolment is free. Textbooks, notebooks, pens, pencils and a school bag are issued at the start of each academic year, and reissued the next. Uniforms are provided, so that no child is visibly the poorest in the room. A meal is served so that no child studies on an empty stomach. Teaching follows the national curriculum alongside the Oxford syllabus, delivered by qualified, salaried teachers who receive ongoing training.

The flagship campus is in Youhanabad, Lahore, and is registered with the School Education Department, Government of the Punjab. Campus two, Joshua Middle School, serves Rahim Yar Khan in southern Punjab. Campus three reaches the Azadtown and Asil Suwa communities near Kahna Nau. Campuses four and five — Mian Channu in Khanewal district, and Village Ding-Shah in Kasur — are opening.

The schools are led day to day by Ahmed Durrani, Founder and Head of School, under the Woerden Welfare School System.
